Would being seen volunteering for the ACLU be cause for a JC?

i'm going to be doing some volunteering for a local branch of the aclu at an art festival tomorrow.

i'll be talking to people about the work of the aclu, providing brochures, etc.

i will have on an aclu shirt- there is a possibility that there may even be a flag on it .

In the ultimate appeal situation - that is, three layers up to the service desk, announcements are usually delayed until final notice comes back from the branch. With one initial delay of the JC for a week or so and exhausting all appeals until that response - all that should be enough time to make the wedding.

However my thoughts are more than just the wedding. I understand Cheese wants to leave - but if he's like most of us, he just wants to leave the false belief system behind and get on with a life no longer controlled by another one of countless man-made religions. Still, he may have friends and family that he still would like to remain amicable with. But they would be the ones that are controlled by the shunning policy. Also - it seems his wife was just thrown into this suddenly as well. If she didn't even know she was being investigated it's likely that improprities may have occured. In essence it seems that there is a lot going on here - and Cheeze may be more prepared time-wise on how to handle this than his wife. I don't know - it just seems that the elders have probably spent all kinds of time in reviewing this situation and neither cheese nor his wife have been given the same luxury to prepare their side of the case. Not saying it would change anything - but i think, if either Cheese or his wife would prefer to be able to leave without the DFing - some more prep time on their end could possibly help.

Two things come to mind that I would research in my prep time:

1) when it comes to doubts - there is scriptual protocal that elders are required to follow, even by WT standards, about warning such ones twice before taking congregation action. Have they each been officially warned and counseled by elders at least 2x before this JC was formed?

2) When aksed the infamous question about whether one thinks the WT is God's org - I think there are more ways to address this than just saying yes or no. I've given this some thought and know what I would say while staying true to myself but not allowing them to use my words as some kind of confession. Having served as an elder I am pretty sure my idea would work. Fortunately my plan is to avoid ever being put in such a situation to begin with. But for those like Cheese that at some point have to face the kangaroo court for BS like private emails between one's family members - a well thought-out plan could get you the results you want.

ZID - With the exception of extreme circumstances - I've never heard of a JC being held outside of the KH; only if the hall was being renovated or something extraordianry that made it difficult for the elders. But definitely not due to a request of the accused. Can't hurt to try - but that's a big longshot I would think.

Hey SBC - I just thought I would chime in with a couple of ideas. It's hard to get the whole picture solely from the posts - but can you clarify something? If you could avoid being DFd - you would right? I mean, it's just that you seem to have determined that the DFing outcome is inevitable at this point.

My point is that from what I gather most elder bodies that I've been on, have been taught not to be quick about DFing. But now, especially, since they're accusing your wife - with less than a day's notice...I think at the very least you should consider OTWO's advice and delay the JC. I really recommend that so that you and her both have time to get your thoughts together.

I'll continue with some other ideas in another post - but based on the supposed evidence I see they have from your posts, I really think there is a possibility (at least remote) to avoid being DFd. I don't know what your emails state to your parents but even if they are full of extremely incriminating statements - there still may be a sliver of hope. More to come later.

But I think at the same time the WT is pretty good too at using tabloid-like sensationalism in its appeal to JWs - so maybe it does work. The way I see it though is that ALL Religions and Religious-oriented exwitnesses or ex-whatevers are going to come accross the same way. Their agenda is to sell their religion. Koolaid man is no different - just wants to market his own brand. CARM and all those other "my religion is the best" blow-hards are all the same in my view. The JWs did get one thing right a long time ago though - religion is a snare and a racket. Religions - even religous groups that focus on ex-other-religions - are the greatest marketing ploys of all time. I think Koolaid man still drinks the koolaid but because its a different flavor he says it's not koolaid.

That's awesome broken promises. When I first started dabbling into seeking out opinons of some who might have left the org - I immedietely came across koolaid's stuff and some other similar sensationalist sites. Needless to say I immediately thought - 'well there's my answer - that's what happens to people who leave - they become batshit crazy.' Not blaming him, but had I never seen his sites things might have gone a bit faster for me.

I love how somebody can take 1 person's post and break it down almost by each word, and have an absolute definitive answer for every single phrase. This reminds me of something...I'm not sure what though...I can't quite put my finger on it - OH I got it now - the Watchtower and the GB and a lot of elder bodies.

The sad part is that although the content of the theology has changed a bit, the dogmaticism is still there.The good news, Darth, is that the answers are available to all of us - not from men in Brooklyn but from our inner ear very own Lord Jesus Christ who now prefers to go by the name JeHiccup MiCaca. Sure the theology may sound a bit like somebody got their dogma from a mix of Tom Cruise, Prince, and Napoleon Dynamite- but not to worry, you'll get it sooner or later, how do we know?

Well because MiCaca is the shit. Literally. Yep He's the bomb. The Grand Finale. He is the Truth. And if your not hearing the voice - don't worry, the preferred method that JeHiccup MiCaca likes to use is internet message boards, preferably ones where there are a lot of people from more Christian oriented lands. He doesn't really like to visit boards based in Jewish/Muslim/Hindu/Buddhist lands. So you're in luck - you are at the right place. Now he won't post himself though (he prefers to use his 'slaves' for those tasks) what he'll do is tell some of his most astute listeners that they are now his slaves and that they need to post here to help you see that he is the shit. Sometimes they might go overboard though and post really long messages (longer than this one even). But the gist of their message is this - 'What?!!! OMG!!! You are not hearing JeHiccup MiCaca?!!! He's Right in front of you!!!! He's not giving you the answers? It's because you're not listening. Try Harder. There. Problem solved. Come back and see me in a few weeks and we'll repeat.'

So there you have it Darth - your answer to that voice issue you're having. And to anybody else that I obviously helped who are having similar issues: My lord JeHiccup MicCaca has this to say - "you're welcome beeaatches!" [Ok sarcastic rant over].

As a side note - Is it just me or does this whole "peace" greeting seem kind of redundant by now? What are we on the Starship Enterprise? I mean do some people really think they are on another planet and talking to us earthlings. Last time I heard that I was watching Flash Gordon or something: 'Grettings earthlings - peace be to you'... I don't know, maybe it really is just me. Yeah I know - this is someone being sincere and sweet, so I should just say 'bless her little heart' like everyone else and then I should STFU. Actually that probably is good advice for me at this point.
